Dr.Villafane became Governor for the American College of Cardiology in Kentucky. He will be the President of the Kentucky Chapter 2010-2013. Dr. Villafane joins the faculty at the University of Kentucky as Professor in Pediatrics effective March 2010.
Dr.Villafane was interviewed by WLKY TV News regarding Pediatric Heart Transplants in Kentucky (1-10-10).
Dr.Villafane was chosen as a Louisville's Top Doc in his specialty. This was published in the Louisville magazine of August 2009.
Effective July 2009, we joined BLUEGRASS FAMILY HEALTH as a provider for Pediatric Cardiology including cardiac electrophysiology.
ICAEL ACCREDITATION of our PEDIATRIC ECHOCARDIOGRAM LABORATORY
On April 1,2009, our lab was granted an additional 2 years of certification by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories. This is an important and unique achievement shared with a few other pediatric labs in the nation. Our dear technician, Donielle, is a certified tech. We are proud of her.

WORLD CONGRESS OF PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY, AUSTRALIA , JUNE 2009:
Dr.Villafane did a Poster Presentation about "Foramen Ovale- is there a need for follow-up?"
XXII INTERAMERICAN CONGRESS OF CARDIOLOGY, PUERTO RICO, JUNE 2009:
Dr.Villafane was invited to lecture on "Channelopathies associated with Sudden Cardiac Death in Young Adults" and "Patent Foramen Ovale".
HEART RHYTHM SOCIETY:
On October 30,2008, Dr.Villafane was selected as a Fellow of this prestigious society becoming the first electrophysiologist in Kentucky and the 12th pediatric cardiac eletrophysiologist in the world to achieve this honor.
CONGENITAL CARDIOLOGY TODAY:
Dr.Villafane's medical article entitled " Patent Foramen Ovale in Children- Is there a need for Follow-up? was published in Nov 2008.
Elizabethtown, KY OfficeNew location: In order to serve better our patients in Etown & surrounding counties, our Etown office moved to a new building at 1003N Dixie Hwy. Our new office will offer easier access and parking for our pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart defects. The new facility will have an ICAEL-accredited ECHO lab and spacious exam rooms. Please come and visit us.
Accreditation of our echocardiogram laboratory: The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories granted accreditation to our Echo lab and staff in March of 2008. We are the first in the region to be accredited by ICAEL.
Heart Rhythm Society, 2008 Annual Scientific Session:
Dr. Villafañe presented at the 2008 meeting in San Francisco.
World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology, 2005:
Dr. Villafañe was invited to lecture at the World Congress in Argentina.
World Congress on Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology, 2007:
Dr. Villafañe was invited to lecture at the World Congress in Rome.
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners:
Dr. Villafañe was certified as a heart rhythm professional on December 14, 2007.
American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award in Continuing Medical Education:
Dr. Villafañe received an award with commendation in 2008.
